Google Schema For Logo

9:35 am on Jul 24, 2013 (gmt 0)

I am sure this is the right place to ask this question. As Google has come up with the Schema for Logo. I wanted to know that how is it possible for a company logo to appear when some one is searching with generic keyword. I can not paste an image hence can not show with an example but if someone can help me then it will be great.

Google talked about this in May ( [googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com...] ).
...Markup like this is a strong signal to our algorithms to show this image in preference over others, for example when we show Knowledge Graph on the right hand side based on users’ queries...
To see this in action search Google for very well known public companies (please don't share specific keywords as per forum charter).

Google seems to be testing logos in the organic rankings using Google+.

Google is testing logos in other places as well. I saw a university logo in Google citations recently but didn't think anything of it at the time. You can even see site favicons next to adsense text links, this seems like a concerted push for brands and branding.

Tip: If you're going to embrace Google's efforts around logos then I suggest you ensure that your logo fits in a square space. I've seen two logos appear in the knowledge area that were skewed because they were not square. I'm sure Google will fix the ratio aspects soon enough but why make it hard for them to show your logo?
