rel=author, rel=me for third party sites

I'm thinking that eventually rel=author will have a lot of value if google ever gets around to using its potential, so I'm trying to link together all my profile pages on Linkedin, Facebook, disqus, my amazon author page, etc, so google will know they are all me for the obvious reasons, seo, and authorship verifications.

While many of these sites have a profile page, most don't seem to make it easy to connect things up with Google+, so I've been experimenting, but getting a bit stymied.

Anyone know the best practice for bringing all these profile pages "into the fold" on Google?

I think you might be getting too far ahead. Facebook and Google tend not to play well together so I wouldn't be surprised if Facebook and similar sites made it harder for Google to connect author profiles.

I'm getting that, but it's seems like an important thing since there's so much talk about author rank, and trust. I've been able to add one or two third party sites -- those that allow putting a link in the profile page description, and still trying to experiment.

What I'd really like to do is ensure google "gets" that the "me" that authored all those books for sale on amazon is the same "me" that runs my websites. Still that gap between real world "authority" and google's understanding of authority.

I figure there are a good 10-15 sites where I can add to my "authority", if only I can get google to "link it all together".

Hopefully, either Google or third parties will realize that in many cases it's in everyone's interest to encourage this kind of thing. (when it is, anyway).

What about linking from your websites to the sales pages of your books at Amazon, B&N, etc? You could even have preliminary sales pages on your websites with links to the various bookstore sales pages. And you could also link in the other direction from your author pages back to your websites.
