i just noticed this in GWT:

Features are now organized according to the stages of search: crawling, indexing, and serving. The settings have moved to the gear icon in the top right corner.
Click the help icon to open the new Search Appearance section and learn what changes you can make on your site to influence how it appears in the search results. Learn more. [support.google.com]

there's a popup help window called "Search Appearance Overview" that includes tips on "How to influence" various features in the SERP as well as related features "In Webmaster Tools".

Nice. I prefer it this way. "Search Appearance" seems to be a logical category to put all of those elements on WMT.
