Matt is in a mini-meetup right now (whatever software is used), currently chatting with Leo Laporte and Jeff Jarvis. Very freeform discussion. Wish I had time to watch.

A quick mention by Matt on Twit.tv that Penguin 2.0 will be released in the next few hours.
I think he said 2.3% of queries would be affected.

2.3% of english queries will be impacted by this update
A new algorithm, almost as many websites to be effected as in Penguin 1.0 .... so this will be big.
That video was horrible - a dorky "Google Love Fest" - first time I watched I watched a Twit broadcast - hope the other 198 weren't as bad.

Up after it finished. Flux for a few hours in the middle.
It looks like they cleaned house. The blog network linkers I shared with the mods several years ago in my old job........just looked and they were wiped out. I had checked periodically. The company that had purchased links from over 1000 domains slipped back several spots. A company that created an EMD simply to help with keyword branding now has that site ranking ahead of their main site that has been around since 95!
I never believe they're done when they say they are but if what we see now is what is going to stick they did for the first time take out some huge offenders in my new and old lines of work.
Going deeper and looking at the subpages and the spam pointing to them appears to have made a difference in how they now rank the products and articles contained within. Impressive

Discussion on Penguin 2.0 will be easier to find if we shift it to this dedicated thread....
