How does Google rank sites with affiliate content in subdomain?

I recently affiliated with a site. I point to it with a CNAME so it looks something like that affiliatesite.mysite.com

I did not notice for a while they let search engines index their affiliate content. The content is not on my site but because it is masked with CNAME it appears it on my site. Is that something that can negatively impact my ranking of my main domain mysite.com?

I'd say it could be a problem. I'd probably use robots.txt to disallow crawling the subdomain.

use robots.txt to disallow crawling the subdomain

that would assume you have access to the server hosting affiliatesite.example.com or your affiliate is "friendly" enough to add a robots.txt file to the document root directory for you.

Could you use a different domain instead of a subdomain? or a subdomain of a different domain?
