Let's imagine in LALA Land that I figured out the reason why my website is not ranking and decide to make changes on my website to rank my website better. How long does it take for google to rank me where I think I should be after I made the changes that I consider necessary

I know that the rank modifying spammer works on 3 different levels but I am trying to figure out if what is the longest time it can take for a site to re-rank if I am in the situation where google considers that I have made so many changes that I am spamming it.

You are trying to figure out a question that no one knows the answer to. And while the ranking demotion is in play, your "natural position" will change because of all the algo updates that take place.

I've heard of sites taking 6 months to a year to get back to previous levels, and even heard of some never getting back - even after Google tells them that a manual action has been removed.

Just over a year in the wilderness for me, and still waiting...
