Google Local Search is Getting More Importance for SERP's

6:48 am on Apr 2, 2013 (gmt 0)

From recent some days I am seeing that whatever Google showing the results, majority of the SERP's are Google + Local pages. Small Business should go for Google+ Local Listing to take the advantage of this updates. Whatever the updates are coming I am getting shocked day by day.

Hello Just_Cakes, and welcome to the forums. Yes, I have been noticing this trend for a while. It depends a lot on the actual search phrase, but Google is also continually testing to find what kind of SERP benefits from local results and what doesn't.

Things don't stay the same, unless there's a location name in the search. Then it's natural to expect local results.

Okay! I thinks they have given more importance to Google Places rather than title because I have observe that site is get listed on first page for some keywords but the URL of that page is not showing yet. Only home page showed on first page.
What do I do? I want that page also get ranked in SERP's.

Can anyone tell me the solution to my this problem?

If I put "white widgets in Cityname" it shows my home page - but it's not showing the "whitewidgets.php" page. People who are in search of "white widgets" should come in at this URL so that they will get the useful information bout what are searching for.

You're describing an issue that members here have been discussing for years. Returning the BEST page from a site is still one of Google's major challenges, as I see it. You can find previous discussions by using our Site Search [webmasterworld.com] for terms like "wrong page google".

There's often no answer, at least no easy answer. I know i've wrestled with things like this quite often.

Things to look out for include using exact anchor text for internal links from the home page. Linked text on a page seems to be a ranking factor for the page ITSELF, not just the target page for the link. And that can complicate things.

But many times the Google algorithm shifts at some point and that just changes which page is returned for no obvious reason we can see.
