AuthorRank confusion... blogs to rank higher than companies?

I have just been reading up on AuthorRank and from what I make of it Google will reward those that have written content from a person with a Google+ account, as opposed to a company.

So if I was searching for information on a company, a blogger may appear higher than that company?

Do the current SEO steps still come into play? ie Meta description, title and content?

Authorship is just one element of many. If a prominent author writes repeatedly about a company, I suppose it is possible she would show up pretty close to the top on a search for that company, but in general, no, a blogger shouldn't be likely to rank higher than the company she writes about, just based on authorship.
