I had a big spike in KB downloaded per day, Panda update Inc?

I'm curious if anyone else has received a spike in the amount of Kilobytes downloaded per day by Googlebot over the past 2-3 days. Mine more than doubled for one day only which has happened before prior to past updates.

If that spike is representative of what my site will look like in serps then anything I do after such a spike is already going to be counted on the Panda update after the next one. IE: it's a signal to wait until the update before changing anything else so that I can see if past changes had any effect.

Big question: are they related?

I see a few sites having elevated levels but not a big spike.

I think it is smart to keep an eye on potential signals like this but I would be careful not to make too much of this signal too fast. I don't think there is enough evidence to prove if its coincidence, correlation or causation.
