False domain showing in Google

5:21 pm on Nov 25, 2012 (gmt 0)

For the last ten years a website displayed correctly in Google as www.mysite.com

(Note: example domain name only, to protect client's privacy).

Then a few days ago the domain appeared in Google as:

The "feedity" domain is obviously a Clickbank affiliate link. And the affiliate link still redirects to www.mysite.com

1) How can Google erroneously list an affiliate link in place of an long-established domain name?

2) How can we fix this problem?

All advice welcome, thank you.

It seems like image hijacking and domain rank hijacking is on the increase right now, there was an eye opening article on how easily it can be done recently but I won't mention the author since you're better off not looking it up. I have no doubt Google knows about the problem and is working on a solution.

Are you using site:example.com to look it up or some keyword?

Don't know without checking deeper (i.e. whether the site is connected with the RSS feed provider), but they have over 30 such URLs indexed. Do a backlink check on all those URLs to see if they have inherited trust etc.
