Does Google share button also give a "+1"?

Hi,
in april Google introduced the share button, obviously to have the possibiliy just to share - without giving "plus". In spite of that, the next weeks many users posted in blogs that the share button also gives +1!?

Was it a bug or is this still valid, today, because it was intentionally?

If yes, what's the difference then between both buttons?

Not sure, I have not personally tested that bit. For many of my industries it seems Google+ has not reached critical mass of my audience to justify adding another button to my site.
