Makes me wonder if they are applying randomization (patent discussed earlier [webmasterworld.com ] ) to their updates.

It certainly points to the complex way that SERPs are generated these days. We may never know the specifics, but the end effect seems to be traffic turning on and off again for a period of a few days.

Have seen heavy Panda damage on the sites I know are affected by Panda.

Will probably see some relaxation from this point if it goes as other updates. Non Pandalised sites have done well for the last couple of days as a counterpoint.

Why are we all still making a big deal about each and every panda refresh? This has become a part of googles algorithm and it sounds like it is here to stay.

I am saying this as someone who became overly obsessed with each and every google update. It does you no good to worry about each and every update google is rolling out. Right now the SEO world is dealing with panda and penguin but there are so many other aspects of googles algorithm that none of us even know about. These kinds of threads are exactly what google wants. You think google is announcing these updates for our benefit?

If you were hit by one of these updates, your plan no longer works. If you want to stay relevant in the SEO world it is your job to adapt. That means becoming more natural. Short cuts are no longer worth it.

I cant control what google does. I can only control what I can do. While I still monitor googles updates, I no longer try to understand them because I have driven myself crazy in the past. if I can only go back and focus more on my actual sites than focusing on what google is doing, I would have had so much more free time to actually have a life.

Stop waiting for the next panda/penguin refresh to fix all your problems. Be pro-active and focus on a real business that can sustain itself. And most of all do what you enjoy doing.

Didn't notice anything until I saw this message tonight.

Traffic still about the same but noticed for my vanity keyword went from page 1 to 3. Hopefully it will change in the next few days.

@brinked, because 1) this is a Google news forum and a Panda update is Google news. 2) many people work their asses off trying to resolve issues with Panda and eagerly await the updates to see whether they've "made the grade", so naturally, when the updates are released, it's discussed here.

Whether somebody has a company that can sustain itself without Google, or not, won't stop them caring about the next Panda update.

My guess would be that the cause of the weekend flux was not Panda. With Google, the flux seems to almost never stop. It just gets bigger and smaller. I'd love to have a better handle on what they are doing that causes it.

I was halfway through editing and removing my site's older content and this update just rolled in. I hope my site sees a jump (nothing phenomenal so far)... Please! Please! Please!

Definitely tweaking things still. When I cleared cache, cookies, logged out - I am back to page 1 again.
Keywords went from crappy earlier on to now more long tails and autocomplete keywords.

Personally, I understand brinked POV. It's just exhausting to keep checking Google's latest animal du jour each day. I have seen many do well without the help of Google and without any inkling of SEO. It's got all to do with social search and social media. If you are not working on that you should. It's yet another pile to add to the plate but that is what seem to be working now.

I still dont get what Panda is and I think no one does. I have removed 60% of all my pages, I would not say those where low content, changed CMS, added some unique text to every page(its a image site), clean urls,no keyword stuffing..... Now when I then look at no.1 for my keyword it has 5 banner above fold on every page, exchangelinks offer, default text where 3 words are changed on every page, so every thing on that site is COMPLETELY the offer sit of what google says is good and they rank no.1 of 56 million results.

When I then hear today that the Panda is on the loose again and nothing happens, I just wonder if google is telling the truth here, be cause I sure dont know what to do, when you see bad sites rank better.

Our traffic is going up and down like a rollerocaster.
Although it seems more targeted. Lots of picture search and foreign traffic ( from austria and swiss ). We are located in germany.

My B&M sites are steady however my niche trade directory site, especially the Coppermine Image Gallery, is all over the place. The last four days have seen it's lowest sequence of Page Views however a strong AdSense EPC.

Yep, I did that to 50% of the gallery starting August 1st and it seems to have worked, now I need to do the other 50%...that's a huge amount of work.

what will you say with this. You put text on 50% of your pages and gained a lot more search strings but you have less visitors? And you say this has worked? I can´t put this together, please give me a short insight. Thanx.

well i have placed unique text to every page, I have not seen any change and my site was on page one for 7 years (that means google suddenly thinks my site suck, hmm). As said before, that site which is no.1 has also images as main content, but absolutely no unique text, participate in link exchange (extreme) 5 large banners above fold....

On 1st August I included relevant text on 50% of my gallery pages and page views to that 50% went up.

The problem I now have is that this morning this specific site has now been blown apart and looks as though it has lost 80+% of its traffic...Gawd knows where Google's thinking is coming from, this gallery is the only one of its kind on the entire web, I supposed I'd better see if I've been scraped and shafted!

Lots of changes over the last week in Google. From the host crowding, domain diversity, and now some noise back to an update a year ago (panda) - these all combine into a major update. Lets call it Bacon - in difference to the recent Knowledge Graph demonstration Google has shown. I think the KG will be a huge focus for google over the coming years and it will impact search beyond anything we have seen since the introduction of Page Rank. Think Frommers, Zagat, Flight Times, and a host of other google 'serp spam'. All those inserts and 'take aways' from traditional sites, come from Googles KG project. Bacon is a perfect representative of that.

I feel like a yoyo after all these updates.

Just to clarify, that paragraph is from the first Panda back in February of last year. 11.8% of queries were not affected by this most recent Panda update. I know that's not what Snowman68 was trying to say, but I just wanted to clarify for anyone reading here for the first time.
