I've noticed that a lot of my new pages are still not showing up in the SERPS 4 months after going live. It is no longer viable for me to be writing content anymore!
The site is getting steady traffic to older pages, has not been affected by Panda or Penguin yet new pages are just not ranking.
The new pages are crawled, indexed and show up for "extremely long tail and quoted" searches. But they are just not showing in the first 10 results pages for anything remotely close to a two or three word search combination.
Last year new pages appeared almost instantly and generally ranked quite well.
Anyone else noticed this and what factors do you think help new pages to rank quickly now.
Social bookmarking, likes and plusses?
Building deep links to new pages?
Just wait and see?
Keeping the new page links on the homepage?
I've found that altering a meta tag/title tag after a page goes live pretty much kills it dead, which is a shame as these are usually the last things I worry about. But this is not the problem, other pages that went live and are unmodified have not been ranking.
