Today i was reading Google Plus author verification steps here[support.google.com ].
Here are two options, so i select the first one:
Option 1: Link your content to your Google+ profile using a verified email address.

Check that you have a email address (for example, levy@wired.com) on the same domain as your content (wired.com).

If this is only limited with official email id's , how they can verify a open gmail id.

After email verification, i can see tick in front of my email.
Does it mean I am author of Gmail? I know this can't be possible but how they can confirm such free id.

I'm not sure I understand your question. A gmail address is a different situation, not a verified email on the same domain where the content is published.
