Frequency of PR updates now?

how often do Google PR updates occur these days ?

a couple times a year ? Seems like one hasn't occurred for several months now. Or maybe it's just me ?

And is it still one of those things, that once it happens.. Most webmaster know all at once ? Or are PR updates more spread out these days, meaning everybody's rank isn't graded for rank all at once anymore ?

Just had one last month (or maybe earlier this month, I don't remember) But maybe every three or four months.

it almost seems like that's how it changes these days...different for everybody.
