checking the top Content keywords of my website, I discovered that the most significant word was "Island".
A bit surprised, since the word has nothing to do, I checked the number of occurrences, that was surprisingly high.

Finally I discovered that every page of my site has a standard country selector, with at least 20 countries starting with "Island". In total they add up easily to 2000+ occurrences

Is there a way of getting rid of this particular keyword?

thanks

You could perhaps populate your country selector with ajax after the page loads.

Yeah, there's no magic to it, just occurrences of the words on a site. Quite useless really, probably done by an engineer who didn't really know the business. It doesn't have any effect on anything so probably not something to spend much energy on, if any.

... and if you had a site about Caribbean vacation spots, the Islands would be joined by piles of "St.", leading the computer to think your site has a religious theme. Could be worse; they also think "it's" is a listable keyword. How the bleep do you write three consecutive sentences that don't contain the word "it's"? (For reasons unknown, they recognize the curly quote here, but don't elsewhere, leading to a scattering of "doesn" and similar.)

Another good one is months. Took me ages to figure out they're getting them from pages with Address lines (yes, it's retro, just never got out of the habit), generally including two named months. Sorry, folks, I don't have pages on "Good stuff to do in January".

I gave up when they started assuming "news" was the plural of "new".
