I just did a search and got 1 reult only, a youtube video. No other pages and a full compliment of ads and searched relates to's and that's it. I was #1 for that SERP last week and today it doesn't seem to exist.

The SERP is appearing as normal again now.

Most likely a glitch from the data center, perhaps even a router failure. The ads and youtube most likely come from a different data centers and therefore would still show.

I did a search for a very popular betting website a few weeks ago, and the only result was a sponsored advert for that site.

What are the odds of that happening? :)

Yea happening for a while now, you are lucky to see one link, out of every 20 queries i am making in Google UK, i am getting blank result with 3 paid ads for about 1 to 2 queries. Repeating the search then shows normal ads.

I have also seen (though VERY rarely) a page with no ads on it at all. For fairly large money term.

That DEFINITELY sounds like a Google bug, doesn't it ;)

it would be helpful to know just how far one could push monterizing the serps while at the same time canibalizing the organics before your average joe rebels.

The average Joe cannot even distinguish between a paid ad and an organic result, so I’m sure they could probably push it a bit further!
