Correct - the ONLY Penguin refresh so far was on May 26, and nothing in June

There are normally announcements via Twitter, and I haven’t noticed any.

Funny how there were two Panda refreshes in June, but no Penguin. But since Panda is an older algorithm, Google has already been working to integrate it more closely with the core number crunching.

I suspect they are using this time to closely assess the effects it’s had after being let loose on the whole index. I’m sure it was the same when Panda was first integrated?

Could you inform me here when it runs again? Because I do not have Twitter.

I always check this forum, but no all the messages otherwise I do not have time to work. :) Please add the next Penguin update here.

I believe there is a Panda thread maintained by tedster on this forum. Maybe the key dates can be combined with this page or an additional Penguin date thread can be created.

Creating a Penguin thread could be useful.

There is this thread about penguin recovery. One might expect that if there was an update it be mentioned there.
There are lots of updates that aren't Penguin. In most months there is more than one per day. There is always a chance of a manual action against a single site, too. You're right, something definitely shows up for your site on that graph.

Hi Tedster,
Do you think it's possible that my site was hit with an automated penalty on that day? If it was a manual penalty I presume I would have had a message in WMT?

Not necessarily. You get that kind of information often after you submit a Reconsideration Request. If your drop did not happen on a known Penguin/Panda date, it would be good to find something you can clean up and then submit one - just for the "manual/no-manual" feedback.
It does look suspiciously like a manual penalty. The other algorithm tweaks do not often have such a dramatic effect.
