Google has announced they pushed out a new refresh to the Panda algorithm recently.

This update "noticeably affects only ~1% of queries worldwide," said Google on Twitter.

There were earlier rumors of an update over the weekend but Google said the rollout started today and not over the weekend.

There is that, but think about it, it's easy to populate a small site with some pages of typing.

It takes very little in terms of character/word strings to generate a fully unique signature, really just a few sentences is all you need. And if you write those on your own, out of your own brain, they almost have to be unique.

I think that may be it in parts anyway.

I know we hit the main bump after a foolish addition of roughly duplicated content that roughly doubled the site's main content pages over a month period after fairly long period of relative low activity, what exactly was going through client's mind when he had that done is totally beyond me, he's a very smart guy, but this was a huge slip.

Traffic is up around 20% the past couple of days so we'll see if it holds.

My traffic picked up Monday as Panda rolled out. Tuesday was awesome. Today - it's like the update never happened. I'm not seeing shifts in our rankings from yesterday though so I'm kinda confused. And the googlebot activity has me watching things even more closely. Gbot is very actively spidering my pandalized pages particularly.

This is a strange one. Only one of our sites hit this time. A site with links from the washington post, RWW, several large publications etc. Every page on the site has at least 100 tweets/likes/+1s. Domain Mozrank of 80. Every blog post had at least 50 comments. Engagement was never an issue.

It was probably the only one we were 100% certain was safe. Just goes to show.

The only thing I could see wrong with the link profile (I know this is Panda, not penguin) was archaic sitewide blogroll links (in total, in the hundreds of thousands). Nothing spammy, genuine blogroll links added by the admin without any request to do so. So high due to the site being so old and popular. I figured the volume of high quality links FAR outweighed the "lower quality" ones.

Branded term anchors were top, etc. Everything done right.
No Malware, crawl issues etc.

Traffic down ~70% but still a little early to tell. Rank checkers show a falling off the chart though.

In place of this site for the tracked terms are VERY low quality sites. Relatively new too.

On the flip side, a relatively spammy affilliate site we use for testing saw a 30% boost in traffic.

I've given up trying to figure this out.

I am seeing the exact same thing. Except, our traffic was up most of the day and then it basically came to a trickle around 2PM EST.

@SnowMan68 our traffic is still up 40% and seems to be holding steady. The positions also seem to be very stable indeed. I think in terms of rankings we are in a better position than we have been for the last 12+ months?

Actually when I say up 40%, what I mean is I have my lost 40% back... traffic has almost doubled.

Traffic for me, since the Panda update, is also up nearly 40%. I really hope this sticks.

Not sure what happened yesterday. It was a lull that lasted a few hours (2pm-5pm EST) that seemed to keep the traffic below Tuesdays highs. It picked back up again and was still much better than it had been in the past 3 months.

Today everything is back to Tuesday's numbers.

I too hope this sticks!

seems like traffic is holding steady for some and others are seeing swings. our primary keywords have been consistent since monday but not so with the longtails - started seeing big movements yesterday at 5pm us east coast time - i don't think we have seen the last of this update - not sure if it was just data propagating into lower tiers or if there was some limited rollback.

Still watching our traffic and Gbot very carefully. In the past when I've seen traffic and bot spikes just before an algo change, it ended up not being a good thing. I've heard it described as google floating the crap sites to the top so they can scrape them off (and out).

Our site is too big for me to know exactly what pages were affected initially by the Pandamonium.

It's a bit hard for me to gauge the traffic during the summer as it's our slow season anyway, but things seem to be somewhat steady for now and at least our bounce rate is slowly going down, hope this is the end of the zombie traffic and mis-directed users.

I can confirm traffic rise for second day in a row (should have been third but my site was down on the first day). My traffic halved on 24 apr and halved yet again the next day. I think I was hit by Penguin and some iteration of Panda(?). So even though my traffic has risen back to 50% of pre 24 apr, my AdSense earnings are fully (fingers crossed) to pre 24 apr days. In these days due to the cluelessness, I tried everything, inserted lots of sidebar widgets then stripped the site of everything except content and adsense etc. Did a complete design overhaul (CSS). Also just started inserting internal links to some of the top ranking pages which took a hit around 24 apr (but it's just been 4 posts and 1 day, so definitely not something I'd count on). Too bad I'm still not savvy enough to track what's doing well on my site etc. But I can certainly count the money.

I think all this mayhem in the last few months costed Google money. Google's earning from the big sites are big but if they ignore the small sites Google takes a business hit too. All this back and forth seems like an attempt to restore Google's earnings(?) After all if we earn from AdSense it's business for Google too. I'm can see with some certainity that they changed the style of the Google Publisher Toolbar (the chrome addon too, today). Someone's working somewhere. And they are in the AdSense department. Pls confirm.

Im still affected by Panda April 2011, I have 301 redirect a lot of pages and moved the whole site to a new cms to handle the site.

Ours was a Penguin hit site, but this is exactly the same for us. Traffic up 3-4x on the 25th, then back to previous penguin levels since.

Panda, is finished or they are rolling out, I cannot see any improvements in our traffic, I am unsure what is happening.

Traffic over the weekend for us somewhat strange. Normally the traffic is down significantly on the weekends, but this weekend we saw higher traffic than we saw the entire week before.

Not sure if this means that this week will go gang busters for us nor not... it will be hard to judge here in the US with the 4th of july holiday wednesday.
