Getting Rid Of Links From Updowner

I'm sure many of you have seen a multitude of inbound links from Updowner showing in your GWT results. Their FAQ provides examples of how to block them from indexing sites..... but makes no mention of how to get them to remove the links they have already created.... and I see no offer to do that anywhere on their site.

Has anyone had success in getting these pests to remove the links they have already created?

Thanks klark0. Here's JohnMu's comment (of June 29th), along with a clickable http link (as opposed to https) to take you to John's post in the discussion...

Just to follow up here -- for what it's worth, we do ignore the links from updowner.com.

Thanks for the reference to the Google Groups thread.

If Google views Updowner.com as an issue (by ignoring their links), why does the site exist in the search results to begin with? It is probably one of the most useless sites that I always see in the SERPs.

I highly doubt the site in question actually does follow through with removal requests if the site they have scraped contributes to any traffic they may get; the domain even has private registration.

I believe the correct course of action would be for anybody wishing to distance themselves from Updowner to send a complain to Google.

I sent updowner a not-too-nice letter to remove sitewide links to my site or else, and got a reply shortly thereafter saying they had deleted them.
