Do mobile sitemaps go under the main site or the mobile site's WMT?

Long story short...post-penguin some of my mobile pages are out-ranking some of my main site pages.

I already have a sitemap.xml file setup for the main site...and was thinking maybe a fix would be to create a mobile sitemamp so google knows my mobile pages are mobile pages.

I've created my mobile sitemap ok...using the guidelines from:

[google.com...]

My issue is...where do I upload this too?

Is it more appropriate to upload it to a WMT account for abc.com so google knows that the mobile sitemap is attached to abc.com? Or should I create a WMT profile for m.abc.com and upload my new mobile sitemap there?

My understanding is that Google regard subdomains as being "owned" by the main domain, so if you submit a sitemap for m.example.com, then it is not really that different from submitting it at the root. In terms of search performance, it doesn't make any difference, so I would suggest you place it wherever makes more sense to you from a management point of view, which I imagine would be under the m subdomain.

Incidentally, this is unlikely to be a fix for your ranking problems. Google relies primarily on crawling and indexing activity to evaluate your pages, and a sitemap is unlikely to change that.

There's actually a few suggestions in this thread from a member who also had indexing problems with a mobile subdomain:
