I have 2 very old sites, I was considering merging them together, ie redirecting one to the other, the one site i was going redirect has 250k links to it as showing in majestic, by redirecting that would the new new site get all that link power?
Would it get the serps tems too?
Whats the pro's and cons?

It likely wouldn't get *all* of it, but it would probably pick up some of it. If I had some particularly strong pages, I'd probably take a couple days to try to reach out to the "best" inbound links and ask them to change to the new page.

Make sure you do a permanent 301 redirect on all URLs, and it is better to point the old URLs to the new URLS, not redirect all to the homepage of the new site.

Out of curiosity, WHY do you want to merge them?

If it would really make sense for the user, then I would do as suggested above; Merge, 301 redirect most links, and try and get the really juicy links pointed at the new pages directly.
