Google Maps Showing Seven Records in SERPs

Did I miss something, or is this new? Google SERPs showing seven local map entries.

I'm seeing three text ads, followed by four organic, followed by seven local map entries, and then six further organic entries.

It's a competitive topic, but I hadn't noticed seven map entries previously.

I've seen the mega list of maps before, but it isn't the most common format. Seems to trigger for queries Google has a high confidence may be "local" - some SERPs display just one organic and then the seven box maps thing!

Ahh, right, so it's not new, it's just the first time i've seen it.

Interestingly, the SERPs don't look clean any longer. The maps and the review stars, the ads, then back to the organic makes the page look real untidy. I have to start looking hard to find what I was searching for. This was not a day job search, it was for something the wife asked me for and she said she couldn't find it. I now see what she means.
