Bug in Google's search box

Open Google in Chrome, Safari etc.

Type in your search phrase but place an empty character at the star of the words.

The screen freezes - been happening to me a lot lately and thought their site was hanging.

But no.. it's a bug...

Interestingly IE strips the unwanted character out.

Oh yes, you need to hit the search button too. So not from the home page, from within an existing results page.
