Panda Help from Google's Own Forum - they relocated the original thread

Many who continue to research the Panda algorithm from its beginnings have relied on the original Help thread about Panda in Google's Webmaster Forum.

...when Google migrated to the new forum system this weekend, the thread was killed. Only about 20% of the posts are in the main thread now, Google lost the rest or they are split off into other threads, hard to find.

You can see the what is left of the thread over here: http://groups.google.com/a/googleproductforums.com/forum/#!category-topic/webmasters/crawling-indexing--ranking/NNinlDYGgwM

[seroundtable.com...]

The thread may now be missing 80% of its messages, but it is also a bit more approachable for those looking for answers.

By the way, this is the Help Thread where specific domain addresses are required, and various Google employees comment directly on those sites. That does make it quite a valuable study.

That's a bit of a mess. Perhaps Google should have its own forum on Webmasterworld where they can answer questions. :)

Heaven help us, no thank you. I do like most all of the Google employees I've met - and the original GoogleGuy here was a really big help to many - but I wouldn't want to tie this forum to their company in any way ;)

Several other Google employees are also members here and they have posted a good bit over the past... not so much now because they want to see personal links to sites under discussion and we can't do that, practically.

Yep. I remember when they used to post here. It was very much appreciated because it provided a human side to Google that it has lost recently. Given the way that the Google forums go, it would probably be a lot more trouble than it would be worth.

Yes, I remember when Matt used to post as Googleguy and could speak more freely about stuff.

Those were the days...

not so much now because they want to see personal links to sites under discussion and we can't do that, practically.

wouldnt it be helpful to have them here, though, commenting on stuff? surely an exception could be made for their own forum, if that's what it takes to get them here.

It's pretty much a pipe dream anyway - it just wouldn't scale the way they need things to scale. Their own forums are already an overwhelmed chaos some of the time, as this thread points out. And of course, their own forums didn't exist in the days of GoogleGuy being here.

Have you read any of their own Panda thread? It's not easy to pull out useful Panda comments from Google employees, though some do exist here and there.

Maybe we can pull out some useful ones for our own purposes here in this thread.

How about a sub forum or "sponsored" forum on a separate site?

P.S. Does anyone know why Matt doesn't want to confirm he was GoogleGuy? I don't recall any crazy posts...
