Hi, I recently did some profile link building on a domain - a few weeks ago, I had a look today and the site is at number 1 for the term I want to rank for.

Under the listing is a "Block all results from this domain" box from those helpful google chappies. This is a new addition to this domains listing.

So is this new option to block the domain a result of it getting it's position 1 status quickly - kind of they want the users to rate the domain for them becase it is now number 1?

Google launched blocking domains from search results a year ago.
Google Announcement - [googleblog.blogspot.com...]
WebmasterWorld Discussion - [webmasterworld.com...]

In September 2011, Google started incorporating that data into the algo [webmasterworld.com...]

I would not be surprised if they were testing new ways to display this and solicit even more user feedback to further adjust the serps. It is what I would do if I owned a search engine. I would expect them to also look at other signals like the +1 button, data from chrome & toolbar users, and a bunch of other sources.

The old school priority of link building is decreasing to make room for usage signals as they become a significant influence on their serps.
