Traffic Up, But Ad Impressions Down

Hi,

I was wondering if Google has started pre-fetching the pages as was discussed some time back here.

On one website, i have noticed higher traffic numbers in my stats software, but strange this is that Ad networks (we use three different) and Infolinks is showing less number of impressions.

If the traffic went up, the ad impressions should also go up, but the case is opposite.

Traffic up by nearly 15%
Ad Impressions down by nearly 20%.

Anyone else noticed something like this ?

Regards

This might be a reason: [webmasterworld.com...]

Since most ads are served via JavaScript, most image hits will not display ads in most newer browsers because JavaScript has been sandboxed. You effectively display the content, and Google has filtered the ads. You might have to dig deeper into your logs and check out what is being served to who.

Sanity check - what do you mean by "higher traffic"? Page views or visits or both?

If your stats software is failing to filter out increased bot traffic that could distort the figures as well.
