About two weeks ago I noticed that a couple of my sitemaps had not been downloaded for quite a while , so I re-submitted them and now still the little clock for the status and still not downloaded?
Is webmaster tools not showing this correctly?

I'm not sure if there's any connection, but sitemaps loaded over 2 weeks ago haven't had any new URL's added to the index. It's real slow.

Yes this is common problem, according to google's guideline if you resubmit sitemap, it will take a day for process but practically not.
