if a site is publishing new content (for example: a type of new widgets every day)........ what is the best strategy to let google know what is old content v/s new content.....

here i discussing freshness of a content like if 2 sites of similar niche exist.... and one of them is publishing new unique content everyday while the other one is publishing rarely (every week maybe).... do you think this freshness of content would matter?

I don't think you really need a strategy. Google knows when it spidered any content for the first time.

thanks for reply... but i suppose google allocates a certain quota for resources to every site.... now suppose i have been allocated a quota of 100 pages to remain in google index,... but for me what is the point of keeping 50 pages related to the topic of red widgets..... should i not remove the 3years old red widgets pages to make way for new red widgets pages which are new content?

but here is a catch as old red widgets pages have gathered authority over time of 3 years...... so what should i do ?.... i dont want my site to overwhelmingly content dominated by red widgets
