Google.com is now https for me

I'm in the UK. I type in www.google.com and I automatically get redirected to [encrypted.google.com...]

Never seen that before. When the Google search page eventually appears there is a link at the bottom about learning more about SSL:

[google.com...]

Anyone else seeing this?

The question that no one answered is what kind of Internet connection was involved. By any chance are you using a wi-fi conntection?

Yes it was wi fi. A dongle on the Three network. It's now reverted back to normal.
