In the Google SERPS each entry each entry be expanded to get a pre-view of the page.

New to me is that there is now a black on white 3cm block over my (and your) page which is simply a highlighted version of one the Google ads that appears on the page.

Google is becoming and appearing to be, seriously desperate.

I'm not seeing anything like that. I am seeing a new kind of "Preview" link - just a gray on white double caret - it displays only when I hover on that particular SERP.

It is now possible to preview the ad ( via the new "forced" preview ) that appears in the pale yellow #FFF8E7 block at top of serps ..

If you do hover over the arrows that appear to the right of it ( the ad over the serps )..it's preview then covers the ads at the right..rendering the top 4 or 5 right hand spots much less desirable..

Interestingly in the example search I used keyword "insurance" the top ad ( over serp) has a "forced ( can't turn it off it just happens on hover to right )preview" ..that on opening says "no preview available" ...that is very "relevant" that is << irony
