Again penalized... this time by massive inbound links

My last penalization was in october 2010.

I made big changes in my site, like removing lots of links to affiliate, delete duplicate content, increase content, delete thin pages. In december 2010 my site was again Top, but was hit a bit by some Pandas, but deleting more thin content and increasing content at the end of august I reach the best positins

Yesterday nighy (11/6) again my site was penalized, most of the kw loose 45 - 70 positions.

Watching GWT I see that one site that links to me, now have 13000 links from the footer to my site. Seems that the owner of that site made a mistake and now send me massive links. Could this be an issue?

Another point to share;

some of the pages that I leave and did not deleted or noindex have pictures of products. This pictures are in a third party site, could this be bad? Each page has 16 pictures

Also for some kws the site is not in the same position. Sometimes position 60 and later for the same kw position 70 or 55 or 80 ...

Check your logs, you'll probably find a manual visit from a Google IP address. In which case you've been manually penalised - welcome to the club.

G has really stepped up the manual penalties lately. Usually -50. If really flagrant abuse, de-index.

Sounds like -50 for you, so at least there's a chance that you can come back. Re-consideration request might work.

Yep. For a company with an algorithm supposedly light years ahead of the competition they certainly smack a lot of sites manually now. Perhaps their algo has no clothes after all.

Good luck with your reconsideration request. You could try letting them know that the crazy links are not under your control, and that just might help. More likely you'll get their standard email ten to fifteen ndays later telling you the site breaks undisclosed guidelines so tough luck. You'll get no help from G in working out just what's wrong with your site (in their eyes) though so be prepared for a long haul. You could try breaking it up into several smaller sites using 301s and with luck they will only ban a bit that is breaking their 'quality guidelines'. You may find scrapping the site and starting again more profitable but bear in mind you may get slapped again. If you do launch a new site make it as anonymous as possible and don't under any circumstances list it in WMT.

@superclown2 how do you identify a google ip in your logs? Do you by Google's IP segments? I thought I was once told that Google's quality raters use adsl connections to mask them. So far I used Google Analytics and filtered for Dublin (that is where the European quality raters are believed to be).

You can tell if it's a manual visit by checking the browser and OS (they use Macs)

Recently one of our site got manually penalised and it we did receive a notification to our webmaster tools accont under messages to check the spam and correct it.
We removed the duplicate dynamically generated contents raised a reconsideration request... and the site is hassle free now.

But 13000 links from one site say page footer should be a sitewide link right!. I have many sites that have sitewide links and so far havent faced any issue with that... Is it really going to be a problem with sitewide links? Please answer

I dont have visits from IP 66.249.x.x but I think that I -50 penalized.

I sent emails to the owner of the crazy site that sends me 13000 links and also I will noindex the product pages that have pictures from a third party site.

Any more ideas?

You may be overreacting. I find it doubtful that a single run of site link would cause you a penalty.

If it was that easy, you could pay that webmaster to link to your competitors right? and get them penalized.

I suggest you look deeper than a single inbound link.

I'd also look into the directions that got you out of penalty last time. Couldn't it be, that Google increased the thresholds for a (algorithmic) penalty, that you escaped by just a little last time but that did hit again?

I've helped a lot of clients got out of Panda issues, and everything I have done are all onsite factors. I agree with wheel on this, you are over reacting abit about the sitewide links.

Take your time and evaluate your site thoroughly and get help from webmaster tools data as well, then plan your onsite strategy

I think the same that is a threshold...

The last time I noindex pages, deleted thin pages with links to affiliate and increase original content.

Today I still have links to affiliate in noindex pages (still some of them in Google index waiting to being de-index).

Could my problems be:
1) Yes I have pictures of products that are in a third party affiliate site ?

2) Perhaps I was hitted by a increased of threshold while google not deindex the pages with the nofollow tag (I made this 3 weeks ago).

3) Other issues about -50 penalization?

About links, looking GWT I see that another site also links with 3500 links and also and directory with a bug, links 5000 times my site.

I also send emails to them... but it is not only 13000 from one site, they are 3500 from another and 5000 from another one.

Don't worry about run of site links. Any site that gives you a footer link that has 5000 pages will show that number of links - it doesn't mean anything on it's own.

Many of my inbound links are run of site, they come from blogroll links on popular blogs - so I have a link from every page of those sites. It's no big deal.

martinacastro, do you have access to any SEO suite such as sistrix? With that you could check the distribution of your keywords. Here you'd pretty clearly see a -50 penalty. It that's the case you'll have to submit a reconsideration request.

I can tell you that I have a heavily pandalized site, which has original texts, but images are from a manufacturer site, used frequently elsewhere.

And it's known that Google now can tell what's in the picture and probably knows which pictures are copies: [webmasterworld.com...]

the pictures are not copy, they are in the affiliate site, in other words they are a hosted in the affiliate site and I show them in my site...

but your copy images were hosted in your site?. Mine are in the affiliate site, I think that this is my problem... not original content...because pictures are not original, they are duplicates...

Another strange thing to share

I deleted thin content and noindex dup content or none relevant content.

For noindex im using: <META NAME="robots" content="noindex,follow,noarchive"> but Google shows me now using the site command more pages than yesterday. Yesteday: 370 pages, today: 1040... so it is showing me pages that I put noindex 3 weeks ago...

Could this be a penalization/pandalization based in a wrong/old/none actual index?

Update: perhaps I force google to read the robots tag:
<META NAME="robots" content="noindex,follow,noarchive"> because were without spaces, now I update with spaces:
<META NAME="robots" content="noindex, follow, noarchive">

also I put this tag in the products pages that have pictures of a third site and also have Affiliate Banners.

for some reason, google still index the pages that are with <META NAME="robots" content="noindex,follow,noarchive"> ... something is wrong... and I don't know :((

are you using +1 on those pages? How exactly do you look for those pages in SERPS? Using keywords or title or URL?

yes Im using +1 since the august, but only in the home page.

If I put the title of one of those pages in Google, I see my site in the page 7, if you are asking me that?
