Social media tool bars

Hi,

My CEO has asked me to look at the use of floating social media tool bars, I'm not sure how else to describe what I'm on about without giving the brand name of the one he asked me to look at :/

But I've never read anything as to whether these are good/bad/indifferent when it comes to how Google views the links on a site or if there any other affects this bar might have.

Has anyone had any experience of these?

As far as I know, there's nothing special or different about adding social media links to a page. The same rules follow as for all links and there's no inherent problem.
