Using an old, well linked URL for a new website

Hello,

My personal travel site has about 300 domains linking to it and quite a lot of trafic.

I am planning on starting a new commercial travel website.

If I tranfer my personal website to a new URL and use the old, well linked URL, for my commercial web site, will it benefit from the links?

Or are the old links going to be ignored by Google besause the website content has changed ?

Could someone please help me?

It can happen either way. It "should" depend on how different the theme of the new pages is, but it doesn't seem to be 100% dependable. If your commercial website is still in the travel area, you may have a chance to retain the backlink power.
