Google ditches realtime search - did anyone care or notice?

We've been awash with Google encouraging social search signals, but with the advent of Google's +1 the Realtime search has been dumped following the expiration of its agreement to include Twitter posts in search results. Apparently it will be back later in the year.

Did anyone notice? Is this another distraction that webmasters have potentially allowed themselves to be mislead into with regards " signals " , or is Google genuinely about to ramp this up? [webmasterworld.com...]

I noticed and I had been using it.

They ditched it when they lost their keys to the 'special' Twitter feed, Twitter was apparently unhappy, or something.

I heard g was unhappy with forthcoming and opted out of renewing their relationship. Either way, that "immediate" is not there at the moment.

I noticed that it's been slightly less annoying to use Google search, but never really pinned down why. That's it. Thanks.

Google & Twitter's contract agreement wasn't renewed perhaps because Google will slowly push + to replace the realtime results
