From PR0 to PR8, the greatest step-up on Pagerank history?

When Google updating the Pagerank on June 27th, my blog PR are increased drastically, from 0 to 8, Yes 0 to 8! Perhaps this is the greatest Pagerank step-up on Pagerank history.

I creating this domain on 2010 so this is a very young dot com domain (about a year). Still very little traffic because I did not develop it well (just for my personal notes). I use English language for my blog post.

But what I realized was that every time I update the content then Google will replace all the dates in the search result of my domain name very quickly (all Google's site like on com, co.uk etc.).

So what are the advantages to have a PR 8 blog? and trust from Google?

If you're not getting significant search traffic from Google, something is funny. I'd be careful about thinking the PR8 is real - it might be a glitch.

or their PR rank update can have success rate of Panda update. I am becoming more and more convinced that people at google don't know what they are doing.

Yes, it may be a glitch. Use the link: operator to find pages that link to your home page. Then check if the returned pages really link to your site, or if they link to a completely different site.

@all: nope this is a real, I check it using the Google toolbar or some Pagerank site checker and the result is valid PR.

Yes it look very funny or "Google don't know what they are doing.." since PR 8 is only for the famous or the biggest blogs on earth (engadget etc.).

Regarding traffic, I post an article that only has a small amount of interest.. but a few hours ago I try to post a news that has a lot interest lately and I got pretty lot of traffic. So its depend on what content I add on my blog.

Regarding backlinks, I have powerful backlinks from many sites because I am actually a web developer / designer that give free themes, so lot of EDU or GOV sites linked to me because they use my works.

I am not an internet marketing guys so I am lost on how to make it become a great blog, just contact me and for trusted people I will allow a few of you to make an experiment with this blog or even become a partner :)

Note: actually I have two sites that has PR 8 and other two sites that has PR 6. For my PR 6 sites maybe its more funny since one of them only has an index.html.

The domain for your blog may have been registered earlier and allowed to expire . The PR rise may be due to some pre existing backlinks.

@caran1: nope this domain is never registered before, a few days ago I check it on some sites that provide this services :)

@miozio: if you want to get 20K visitor per day you must trusted by Google first isn't? if you targeting Google of course.. so they will placing your site on first page on SERP if your content is good (unique) or informative. If you have a member based site like Facebook than you do not need a search engine at all to got the traffic. Please be wise :)

Lot of people said "my pagerank up but I got decent visitor after its up" after that they make a conclusion if PR is not important anymore, that is a bad analysis, why? they do not thinking about their competitor improvements :)

Page Rank really doesn't have the same value it did five or even seven years ago. Google reminds us constantly that PR is among 200+ signals the algo uses. However, PR8 does sound nice, but won't mean much without any traffic. :)

That's the mostly likely reason, right there.

As for its worth, it will allow your site to rank well for almost anything you put on it. Ok, that's a stretch, but not too far off. It will also allow you to pass along some of that power to other sites you own. Starting a new site? Link to it from this one to give it a great big ol' push right out of the gate.

And finally, while selling links is "bad", that PR8 will allow you to get a higher price for advertising 9 times out of 10. Regardless of whether or not PR should be used in ad pricing, the fact is that buyers look at it. Until Google stops showing it, buyers will pay more for an ad on a PR8 site than they will on a PR2 site.

Google uses a logarithmic scale for pagerank. It's similar to the scale used for denoting the power of an earthquake, where for example, a Rickter 7 is ten times as powerful as a Rickter 6. So a PR8 is very difficult to reach, especially for a small site. If you have done so, that's quite an accomplishment.

(However, if those links in your themes ever get deprecated - and over time, they very well may - your PR will sink like a stone unless you've got something else in place to shore it up)

@tangor: Yes I know, the biggest problems for my blog is its contents (the targeted visitor is not wider), bad language, and grammar :). Its only contains like "Version bla.. bla.. released", "Module for bla.. bla..". Yes PR 8 is nice, maybe with the right content the traffic will increased.

@dazzlindonna: I do not check it very details but its seem I have a lot of backlink from that kind of sites. When I type link:www.example.com I have more than 2200 links (total links). I am not good for advertising matters, I am lost so currently no ads at all :)

@aristotle: Yes that is a small blog, have bad grammar and language (I still learn English :D). Or its backlinks quality, one trusted organization backlink maybe its much better than 50 backlinks from blogs..

@netmeg: thanks for remain me, yes it will gone :) but I am always ready to maintain it since that is my real world.

@idcew: I check the site and yes its has PR10.. thanks for let me know, I thought only Facebook that has PR 10 :)

I think its because the content (global keyword) with all the links is match, Google should can detect the CMS type as well.

Or maybe you have a different perspective..

We had a similar situation happen so I'm guessing G is still working out the kinks in the latest PR update.

We launched a website that went basically straight to a PR 6. The domain name is outstanding and aged but never really was developed. So we developed it but it doesn't really rank for anything just yet and only has about 3 in-links, brand new.

So, we are seeing what G will do from here.

@reseller: You're welcome :) yes simple technique but very powerful, this is just a bonus (at first) since my main goal is to spread the word about my sites so they will know about my services. If they kick PR, that is a big mistake, and soon a site like Alexa will takeover of it (different technology but similar purposes).

@Yellow_Sun: maybe if you have a strong global keyword across your site, you will rank better. Want ranked to specific keyword but you only have a few article that talk about is not enough, I think :)

On the other side, it looks like moving to blogger hosting is extremely beneficial post panda. you will not be affected by panda algos and you might even get a good PR :)

Indyank, wouldn't Google love to see all blogs be on blogger! I'm not surprised you have fringe benefits by running your site from there but the one thing you don't have is a domain of your own. You're building pagerank and backlinks but not for your domain. It's a tradeoff.

Has the jump improved your ranking in the SERPS? PR alone is pretty meaningless if you don't rank for the right search arguements.

High PR may not help you with popular keywords, low PR may be no bar for niche keywords.

come on guys. as i said above, the blog is hosted on blogger platform and blogger.com has PR8. There does seem to be some glitch as the custom domain seem to be carrying the PR of the underlying blogger platform.
