Since imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I bet the people down at Bing take this as a compliment.

That's a different layout - the "black bar" layout we're discussing in this thread: Google Adds Black Menu Bar [webmasterworld.com]

So please, let's keep this thread focused on the screen shot that zehrila shared.

I'm seeing no adwords on informational query listings. It's almost as though Google is separating e-commerce from information in it's content buckets. Is that new? Is anyone else seeing this?

ah yes but there is additional space on the top adwords ads so its pushed the organics further down the page

Indeed... with the new layout and some choice searches i can see 0 organic results without scrolling. Adwords / search suggestions / Google 'comparison ads' are making the organic listings 2nd class citizens below the fold.

I do like the 'look' of the layout though, but from a usability perspective, not too good for me because of the scroll required.

yeah most financial queries where google puts in one of their "comparison ads" results in 4 big adwords generously spaced so only one organic listing just about makes it above the fold.

previously it was 3 so really the aim of this change was to boost adwords earnings - not good

I'm seeing that as well.

I truly hate it. I think it's awful.

I'm actually not one to overreact when changes are made (change is good in my books), but I think this new design is awful.

I mean, a black heading bar, a gray bar below it, red/brown (I think? Am colour blind) links on the left and green and blue links in the SERPs.

Yeah, no.

Will be using Bing as my default search engine from now on :)

In all honesty, i liked it the time i saw it, but its 2 days now and its still there, all my searches yield this layout and now i don't like it, its annoying me, i feel un installing it if i could. I just got into Google Plus and it makes sense that they want to give a unanimous feel to their search and Google Plus. I have a feeling, this is how the next Google layout will be, with black bar on top.

Not liking it. I find it distracting, my eye keeps being drawn to the other areas of the page rather than the search results.

Same reaction for me. The eye keeps getting drawn back to the grey header and the Google search bar up top, then the ads, then the real search results. I have a hard time focusing on the search results because my attention is constantly called back to the header area.

Clearly some A/B testing still going on. That top menu bar keeps changing colour for me. You'd like to think they'll get this right.

First post in a while for me. I have to say "nice looking new google layout" is not something you will hear from my lips. I want the original skin back. End of story. White is what I like. The dark bar does irritate me. It's like having a nice pillow. It's like your mom coming to your home and putting a new different pillow on your bed and she tells you how much nicer it is. No it's not. Stay out of my bed Mom.

Seems clear now that Google is rolling out a multi-part interface change. since we already have a home paged discussion about that, let's lock this thread and take the rest of the conversation into that one thread.
