I have a site that has been running with a -50 penality for some time now. In the PR update yesterday it went to PR 5, is it normal for a site to increase in PR when running a penality.

PR is link related (offpage), penalties - content related (onpage).

Probably G gave up graying PR bars. Now PR is probably a raw calculation and -50 penalizes for too many links and/or content.
