Wow - either I've been living under a rock or suddenly they turned on some features in GWMT that measures ranking.

And it is looking pretty accurate. (how does your data compare? - make sure you use the filters!)

If this remains stable, this might mean I don't have to mess with other ranking analysis tools (except of course for competitive purposes).

I knew it was a good idea - now it is in place - and thanks to Tedster it seems to pass muster - or at least it did back about a year ago when it first seems to have showed up.

also - it seems that GA and GWMT are being linked in increasing ways.

anything else I've missed?

What do you mean specifically by "ranking data" and where are you seeing it?

GWMT will show where your keyword ranks.

And it seems reasonably accurate for ranking data.

GWMT >> Your Site on the Web >> Search Queries

and it looks like it was turned on for my accounts around April 30 of this year.

I'm pretty sure "average position" has been a feature for several months now. This post is from back in early May:

@bailbones

Ayup.

Tedster nailed it back then too - I missed it until now.

No biggie.

I'm just amazed that I missed it - and how cool it is.
