i have a site which has millions of low quality tags,... i want to remove these from the site,

but it will leave them orphan.......

if i will check each and every page for quality (at run time)then it will take too long to load a page and site,... so what should be the best strategy to remove a page by 410?

Please help

"Orphan" means a page has no inbound links from your own site. If that's the case, the URLs are already orphaned. So I think your question isn't really about creating orphan pages, but I'm not clear on what your concern is.

I think orphan pages hurt the site, what is the best way to remove thousands of orphan pages?

remove the /tag/ directory on WebmasterCentral [google.com...]

Pray that you can do it via a directory or you are will spend many sleepless nights doing it in other ways.

I don't think orphan pages cause any issues at all.

Google expects sites to have pages of search results that are only found by users that type a search term into a search box and have no links into them.

My sites have orphan pages from ideas that didn't work. We'll launch a section and link to it. If it doesn't get traction, we'll remove the links to it, but we won't always pull down the content. I've never seen this cause problems. Not before or after panda.
