A lot of folks must be considering whether it's more economic to start again or fix up the old site/s.
How quickly and what's required to launch a new site quickly these days. Has it changed post Panda ?

Launching a new site is a daunting challenge. If you were hit by Panda there is a good chance you may recreate your errors on the new site.
Let's say you know how to avoid Panda mistakes and build a great site that Google will love. I think we can all agree that most good sites need backlinks and content. Those things do not happen overnight. I would expect for most people launching a new site it would probably be months before seeing strong results (my estimate varies greatly depending on how much time and resources you have and what industry you are going after).
I am a big fan of online diversification. Having multiple sites will expose you to more experiences of the Google algo and also open up more revenue potential. Even though I think it would not be easy I would strongly encourage Panda people to start new sites. At the very least it would help them test their theories about Panda.

@ Goodroi
Question , with a new site targeting a medium competion long tail keyword with say broad match 10000 queries/month
What traffic level would you expect after 3mths, and 6 mths to know you where making progress
I know there are many variables, but having had a rough ride getting organic traffic i'd appreciate a perspective from a more successful website operator

@scooterdude Still way too many variables.
IMHO the biggest variable is how good are your SEO skills? If you think meta keywords are important critical then I would expect poor results for your project.
Competition level also varies greatly especially when you look at different industries. You can rank for some adult keywords with less than 100 quality backlinks. Problem is its very hard to get 100 quality sites willing to link to an adult site.
ps You might want to be a lil more careful and not assume that I or anyone else is a successful website operator. Too many people talk big online and actually have poor real life results. I like to measure online people by how much their wisdom can be replicated into success for you.

I wasn't referring to meta keywords, I am aware that they've been largely deprecated by all SE's , and for good reason.
I mean't subject matter of the whole site I suppose
I find that only sites that already get traffic get natural links, the level of links people mention having here, must be well beyond what one can get via begging emails :)
