Hi all,

I have several websites on a dedicated server that have ALL seem to have lost ranking in the past 24 hours. Each website is totally unrelated (no sites in the same niche) and I have done nothing expect add content to each, as I have the past several years. Woke up to sites dropping 2+ pages for each of their most popular keywords.

Coincidence of all sites on that server dropping rank? Does Google, for whatever reason, ding your whole box if they don't like something?

Trying to make sense of this..

Google generally does not penalize sites that share a server or ip address. The simple reason is that some hosting companies have hundreds of different websites sharing servers and ip addresses. If one of those webmasters breaks the Google guidelines, Google does not want to penalize the hundreds of quality sites that share the server.

It sounds like you have tried hard to separate these sites but maybe you intentionally left behind some connections. If you look at your backlink profiles did you do paid links for your sites or blog spam or some other type of low quality link building? If you look at the templates for your sites do they have high % of content space or are there large areas of ad space and other non-content items?
