Duplicate Meta tags in Wordpress

Hi guys,
I am sure that most of us have this issue of double meta tags when we look at our source code. One comes from default Wordpress and the other is from ALl in One SEO plugin.
I was wondering should I take off the default meta tag cause ALL in One SEO is the best fit since it is inserted accordingly to each article.

Much Appreciated,

Thanks,

Yes, suppress the default WordPress tag.

I just went through this exact problem with a client who launched a new website (about 30,000 pages) in February.

In their case Google was not looking at the second meta description tag at all, and as a consequence all their snippets were created by the algorithm Google wrote. Not awful, but not as good as the stuff they wrote which was placed into the source code via the SEO plug-in.

Hi Tedster,
Thanks for your response. So should I get rid of the default meta tag on the article page that is single.php and only use the All in One SEO' generated meta tag?

thanks

That does sound right - but I am not a WordPress expert, and for the project I was consulting on the dev team consisted of very knowledgeable coders. I pointed out the result we needed and they made it happen.

I'd say test it and see - shouldn't take too long.

My Media , it depends on the template, my default meta`s where in the header.php.

I just removed the meta description tag and All in one seo was then the prefered tag

Yes Chalkywhite and Tedster,
I just did that. I removed the default meta keyword tag.

Thanks
