As I commented in that thread, it sounds like Google's organic search team had a meeting with the Adsense team about their messaging.
Nothing more insulting than seeing a smiling Matt Cutts in his latest video saying "how to tell Google your content is the original" - or should we say "we have no idea who's content is original so please help us".

it feels like this business is run by a bunch of muppets that don't consider other departments - and they do this in public
