WMT Search Queries showing random terms

I was just having a quick look through my WMT Search Queries when I noticed some very strange terms.

WMT claims that I've been ranking quite well for a couple of terms that are totally unrelated to my site - and to give you an idea of how unrelated it is the site sells consumer goods and WMT showed an average position of 10 for the term "Google Earth".

It was only over the past week that I started ranking for these terms but I've checked my analytics and they have driven traffic.

I was wondering if anyone else has had a simialr experience.

p.s. I am aware of the limitations of WMT when it comes to accurate data.

So it sounds like WMT is accurately reporting your activity. It is not unusual for a website to rank for unexpected terms. It is unusual for a website to rank for unexpected competitive terms. I would guess your site is using similar keywords on the page and it appears in the anchor text.
