Peak traffic days. now Tuesday ?

About 3 years ago my peak traffic day was Saturday like clockwork and my lowest traffic day was Wednesday. that slowly shifted and Sunday was my peak traffic day, like clockwork. 6 months later my peak traffic day had become Monday. Now it's Tuesday.

I have a hard time believing that Tuesday is the day of the week when most people are on their computers, a more likely scenario is that Tuesday is when I'm ranking best thus getting my biggest share of clicks.

In looking over my traffic charts for the past 3 years each week is like a little saw blade with the peak and low being the exact same distance apart over and over and over. Traffic is up steadily the entire time but the graph pattern is distinctive.

The possible causes that I can think of are...
a) Tuesday really is the busiest time of the week online.
b) Advertisers are more aggressive on the weekends causing more searchers to click the paid ads than a natural link in serps.
c) I'm being throttled of some prime time traffic on typical busy buying days (Friday, weekends etc).

Is Tuesday your busiest traffic day too?

Weekends are usually slower than weekdays. Most people go online at work - wouldn't it be great to get paid for surfing the Internet? LOL

Also, there could have been a report on the broadcast news that prompted a bunch of people to search a keyword that you rank for.

Tuesday could be a good day because most people get back to work Monday and have to take care of business. On Tuesday they might get some extra time and go online.

We have seen some slow Friday's. Perhaps that is because people have to get their work done before leaving for the weekend.

Tuesday has been my busiest day for years. Then it starts to go down with Saturday being the slowest day at close to half of the Tuesday traffic.

Thanks for sharing that, it just seems "odd" that people are busy online on Tuesdays since it's not payday, it's not time to look up a show, etc. I suppose that makes it the perfect time to just browse around though.

Brick and Mortar on Saturday, internet on Tuesday, okies.

In the travel, finance, and local services verticals, Monday has long been the biggest day, followed closely by Tuesday. Weekends are always the lowest. Wed, Thur, Fri is generally a gradual decline.

Tuesday is also widely considered to be the best day for email marketing as well.

I'm certain it depends on the niche. I've had websites since the late 90's and my sites, and all client sites, exhibit the exact same traffic curves.

Travel site traffic mirrors the person's time at work. As soon as they arrive in the office on Monday, the traffic starts to climb, peaking on Tuesday and Wednesday, falling away after lunch on Friday, bottoming on Saturday and Sunday (better things to do... and besides, we'll use the employers resources on Monday!)

I often wonder if employers really understand the extent to which they fund their employees web browsing habits.
