Back in february I noticed a product page was performing well below par for a reasonably popular keyword. It had a fair few SEO issues which I attempted to resolve, which intially all looked good, since february it has been steadily climbing up the Serps from page 6 to the top of page 2.

Today I see its vanished and is replaced by a less relavent page (my sites homepage)It started climbing after I wrote and article on the product ive checked and the article is still live.

Im struggling to figure out what happend here. Its quite unusual in my experience, I could understand if it bounced around for a week or so then got pushed out but 2 months of improvements then gone.

I know i have a few options, I think ill try to increase backlinks to the product page and see if it come back, I could also remove the content from my main page but im reluctent to do that.

where is the article posted?

Is it posted on your site?

or is it posted on an external site?

what page does the article link to on your site? Your site's home page? Or the product page?

Hi Planet13

It was posted on an external site and the link was to the product page.

I have some ideas on some ideas on what i can do to address this but the bizare thing is that its been fine for roughly 2 months and steadly getting better, I wonder if the article site may have problems

The product page is definetly more relevant but has less inbound links then the homepage.

Right now Google is a mess, I have been scanning all their Datacenter for a ranking on one of the site I am working on and the result varies, some are ranked some are not. When I use other web based tools to check the rankings, they all varies too. I guess you are looking on a DC where your site is not ranked at all, whilst it may be ranked on other DC.

The page appears to be back and stronger then before. All I did was to create a couple of inbound links, primarily from our blog site.

It really bugs me when our front page and coming soon pages rank instead of the actual page with content.

Fingers crossed it stays there this time.

If it continues to disappear and reappear, there are a few threads in this forum about the yo-you effect, which might be worth reading. They certainly game me a few ideas.
