Reading the recent post I read "This new algo, this update, ..." but we still do not have a name (like for example Caffeine). Do we want to name this algo change?

The entire SEO community seems to be calling it either "Farmer Update" or "Farm Update". I don't think we jumped in fast enough to get our usual naming privileges adopted - unless maybe we come up with a really great name? I haven't had a brainstorm about it.

I'm sticking with the farmer theme, but like 'Old McFarmer' personally ... It's so lyrical! lol

Yea, Danny named it Farmer; good enough for me.

It's probably too late, although I'd vote for the "Spring Cleaning Update".
I know it's not quite March (hence Spring), but in many ways a spring clean involves a post-winter cleanout for spring and beyond.
Hence I'd vote for "Spring Cleaning Update", but accept that it's probably too late.

To quote from the actual farmers almanac site:
Anyone can give you advice — Farmers’ Almanac goes beyond today’s experts and enlightens you with generations of perception, experience, and common sense.
Anyone can give you advice = scrapers
Farmers’ Almanac goes beyond today’s experts and enlightens you with generations of perception, experience, and common sense = All the hard working folks who try their best to earn a day's wages presenting their wisdom that they gained through first hand experience -- usually hobbyists with a true passion for what they are writing.
And of course MacDonald is the most famous one of them all, hence, "MacDonalds Farmer Almanac" just so that Google never forgets what lead to this in the first place :p

Considering the quality of google's current SERPs, I think the people at Bing are having quite a good time right now... why not call it Bing :). consider the irony...

Unlike Operation Overlord which changed the world, these Google giggles are merely corporate decisions. Do we really need to give'em a name?

After reading some of the reports of what people are doing and finding, then thinking about what Google is trying to do with the index, maybe we should call this thing: Operation Spring Cleaning, because that's what seems to be going on...

Hey Mad, after reading many posts (never seen so many posts) I would love call it the "accurate" update. It would be really funny.
