Does Googlebot Crawl WordPress Differently?

I have recently changed my site and have decided to use wordpress as the style of the site was more tuned to a blog.

Could someone explain to me how googlebots scan through WordPress sites? Do you need to enter keywords in the same way as you would if the site was pure html or is there some other way of optimizing your site for googlebots to scan through it?

a blog is pure html as well, so there should be no difference.

i think its easy to get lazy with blogs though, and just think that sticking in a load of tags will take care of your keywords.

when i see blogs printing out a long list of tags under the post i am dubious that they have any benefit for SEO, other than helping a spider find the pages. if you want your internal links to do some good then you need to put the keywords inside your text -- the actual post, and vary the words a little bit.

googlebot treats wordpress just like any other site. you might think its treating it differently if you switched from a simple html site with minimal navigation links to wordpress and its php include files. its not so much that wordpress is treated differently, its more that google is taking into account more links on every page due to the php includes for your navigation links and footer links.

wordpress has its own set of seo issues. for example the same content can potentially be published on multiple urls. the good thing is that so many people have been using wordpress for so long that there are many seo plugins to help optimize your wordpress.

What about pinging new posts? I've searched long and hard to find any definitive answer on this but have read lots of comments to the effect that 'Google seems to pick up my new posts quicker with Wordpress'. Anyone care to share?

Just launched a blog few days ago, my first interaction with WP and i am happy about it.

I have used a plugin for Google XML sitemap generation and you can set to ping automatically Google when make the sitemap.

I think is the same thing with submitting from WMT.

I don't think you have an advantage regarding crawling because is a blog, probably was when WMT was not so popular and bloggers has been indexed faster due "pinging".

Indeed, has indexed a feed page (available for each post) and showed me in supplementals. I have blocked now in robots.txt :)
