Hi all:

I am a newbie on SEO, I run several sites and they were not optimized for SE, I did some SEO and implement some keywords on the content, clean up the codes, change all invalid HTML codes, and now waiting and hoping for more SE traffic.

My question is, how long does it take for google to update my site on keyword rankings?

based on my experience changes are typically reflected within 24 hours of google noticing the change. if you change your webpage and your webpage is only crawled once a week then in about 8 days you'll see a ranking change. if you gained a backlink from an external webpage you need google to crawl that external webpage before you will get credit.

also remember that in some situations your ranking may not change if your positive change is too small to overtake the pages ranking above you. lets say the #1 ranking website is very powerful with great content and a million backlinks. even if you add a title tag and 100 backlinks you will not outrank the very strong page in position #1.

Do you mean that new keywords will take effect on google SERP within 24 hours? Well I don't see that happen on all my sites...

He said that his experience is TYPCIALLY within 24 hours of the page being crawled.

If looking for SE traffic (Search Engines, not Google in particular) just wait a bit... there are many out there chomping at the bit to get what you got. If you're looking for Google to do something---in recent days they are not as aggressive as they have been in the past. goodroi speaks true, it will take a while.
